Kivinaamat was used to refer to actors like Robert Mitchum decades ago.

Now I can't recall (or find) whether that was a translation of an American description or a Finnish original. One can be stone-faced in English but at the moment I'm having trouble hearing it as a nickname or group characterization in anything but Finnish.

It certainly was apt. Today Mitchum would be an advertisement for Botox. In recollection, it's as though his face was simply too heavy and leathered to move.

Hearing that the subject of patsastella is Jean Reno, I immediately interpret the word in this direction. If it were some other actor (or especially actress), perhaps I'd hear it differently.

As far as Indian summer goes, I've never heard it in the US as anything other than uncharacteristic (and deceptive) warm weather in autumn. It might be used for late-lingering warmth, but more properly I think it is warmth that re-appears after the onset of cold weather. I would hear other usages as misinterpretations, especially in a language other than the one where the term originated. In the US we also have the term Indian giver, meaning one who gives something and then takes it back. The irony there, of course, it that it was the US government that repeatedly did that to the native Americans and not vice versa as the term suggests. But the implication is that Indian summer is a false summer that will lure you in and then disappear overnight.

As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

Here it is, used again!
Britney Spears on nähty viime aikoina kuvaajista välittämättä patsastelemassa bikineissä milloin missäkin
In this case I think they mean "posing" (for the camera?)

No, she is just sort of strolling aimlessly wearing a bikini. Not caring where she wears it and who takes a picture of her.

Whatever exactly it is, one might conclude that it comes naturally to Britney.

More on Indian Summer. It's an older word than I thought.
