International Business

Post by dutchguy » Sun Aug 29, 2010 4:47 pm

I am currently working and living in the Netherlands to save money to move to Finland, but will not move there before finding some kind of job. I have just finished my bachelors degree in International Business & Management, and have work experience in the banking industry, and international logistics. The topics I studied were Accountancy/Finance, Logistics and Marketing, and some other courses such as excel, business communications etc. I was wondering if there would be job options availible in Finland or not. I speak fluent english, native lanuage dutch and fairly good German. The logistics work I did consisted of planning the outgoing goods, and this was for a German company in the UK so I had to speak daily english and german. and as part of my studies I also studied in the Texas (USA) for half a year, so I have lived in 3 different countries to show my international capabilities.

If someone could point me in the right direction for finding work or tell me something about the possibilities this would be great, I am planning to study for a masters degree sometime in the future in Helsinki as well if I can get in.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

It'll be a hard process but definately manageable. Companies here like international experience but they also like you to speak finnish so try to learn as much finnish as possible even if it's just the basics.

I pretty much went through the same thing over the last 6 months, had to take a temporary job selling newspapers for a few months but now got a good job related to my degree so it's possible. Main thing is to be proactive in the search and understand that there are many finnish graduates (who almost all have similar masters degrees) also looking for work.

I am a Chinese student also majoring in International Business,I just came back from travelling in Netherlands lol.Try to find some German or Dutch companies here in Finland, because Dutch and German language would be your advantages. If you try to find some position in Finnish companies, well, you need to start learning Finnish as soon as possible.Good luck!
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have more questions.

By the way,I hitchhiked from Netherlands to Estonia, then took a ship back to Helsinki ,I love Netherlands!
