Travel outside Finland (EU) with B Residence Permit?

I'm a student from the U.S. who was just granted a 12 month type B residence permit for Finland. I have the opportunity now to finish my studies early and stay in Norway for about six months. My question is: how long will I be allowed to stay in Norway, having only a Finnish visa?

Visa is for visiting up to 90 days. Residence permit permits you stay longer.

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.
