Is what they see in the earnings statements different in any important respect from what they can see in the public tax records?
You really do NOT want to become a fugitive child-custody kidnapper by taking the child abroad. That will turn the whole system against you with a bunch of potentially unpleasant consequences.

Wish I had some actual useful advice to give the original poster - except that she would not know where her husband keeps his financial records (tax record for last year) and has no way of getting hold of them while he's at work or something...?
