If it is the same as "rahka" you find it in every store in the milk counter. Rahka or maitorahka.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curd -> http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahka

So you are probably after some "rahka" or "maitorahka" just as EP said.

ps. I don't know where it came from, but now every time I see EP I hear faint voice saying: "EeePeee phone home" :lol:

No - that's the ready stuff - I mean the raw material for making eg mozzarella

See this article - and click the 'play video' - also see the recipe along the side 'wok fried mozzarella'

Why stop there - why not a cow and grass - and a cow's stomach for extracting the rennet? :roll:

Curd is usually available in many places as the NY Times points out - so thought maybe someone had spotted in Etelä Suomi/PK

If it don't have a Finnish name then the chances of finding it are quite low, especially if it cannot be found canned or is otherwise easily spoiled.

Juustomassa I would assume is the word used for cheese curds in cheese making. But yea, ajl is right, milk and rennet, or milk and piimä if you make kotijuusto (piimäjuusto), is what people use here for cheese making. I have never seen cheese curds sold for making cheese here, only curds like raejuusto, herajuusto, and ricotta type of things. Anyway, you can find rennet (juoksute) usually in small bottles close to where they sell milk/butter/yeast.

You could of course try asking cheese making places if they also sell cheese curds.
