Applying to Design- Content/Portfolio

Post by Jammi » Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:53 pm

Hey there, everyone. I am going to apply to Design Programme in English in North Karelia UAS & Kymenlaakso UAS this year. Though I have questions in mind regarding the portfolio. I have contacted the headmaster of one of the polytechnics, and checked their website about it, all I could get was I could do it handmade or digital, and the way I like - in means of subfields of design. If students of the programme or applicants from previous year could help me with the questions, I'd appreciate it. First of all, design sounds like an extensive field; would I be able to focus on some subfield of design in later years of study, or does "design" apply to a stricted field, such as fashion/textile design even from the start? And about the portfolio, I am not sure whether I should prepare it with only handmade works. I haven't done any digital works but if any of you would recommend me putting in some digital works too, I would take a course or work on it. One last thing is the number of works, how many should do fine? Now I am not sure if this kind of information is okay to be given, but thought I would give it a shot since I don't have much time left and I should see what I am supposed to do a bit clearer.

Thank you in advance!

if you do degree for fun or just want to know more about Finnish cultrue, then the school is good for you. But there is almost "0" possible to find a job based on that degree.
The location of the shool is also a bit quiet.
sorry to say ...
