Hyvää kaamos teille kaikki

Post by tuulen » Mon Nov 22, 2010 7:50 am

Every year the sun goes away for a while, but then the sun eventually comes back.

My best season's greetings to you, to everybody!

Kiitos!

To be exact, true "kaamos" only occurs North of the Polar circle... but it's dark enough here in Southern Finland too :ochesey:

Kiitos!

Although I would like to say "what is good about it". When I was younger I never suffered from the dark season, and I didn´t understand what people are moaning about. But the older I get the harder it hits every year. Usually I take a week or two off around December and head off to Thailand/Egypt/any place with sun, but this year it is not possible and that seems to make it even harder.

Maybe I need a change of attitude. Last week when the snow came I was clearing the yard (in darkness) and swearing. I wanted to cry, Then neighbour´s two little girls came from kindergarten, started to roll over in the snow and hollered "WONDERFUL SNOW, WONDERFUL SNOW".

Oh, no! I got it wrong. I should have said teille kaikille.

Anteeksi.

When I was young I could not understand about being old, but now at age 56 I am beginning to understand about being old.

Obviously, you were supposed to start rolling around in the WONDERFUL SNOW yourself.

Well...I guess you'll have to say "anteeksi" once more.... :ochesey:

It should be Hyvää kaamosta teille kaikille...

Oops! Yes, I forgot the partitive ending, anteeksi.

Did I mention that Finnish is a really easy language to learn? No problem!

Anyway, I wish all of you a good winter, to everybody!
