Another word for MATKALAUKKU ?

Post by alfalfa2 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 5:54 pm

I'm trying to find a BIG travel-carrier/suitcase (a big black thing with wheels). Searches for "maktalaukku" on tori.fi have been disappointing. What other words do finns use when describing this object?

Nothing else. It is just matkalaukku.

There are old and dialectical words like "kapsäkki" but nobody would use that.

I happen to have one in my basement. Not very high quality (Chinese, not a brand one) but unused and big. The reason it is unused is the size: It is too big.

Hi!

Try "suuri matkalaukku" instead.

Tori.fi isn't exactly the most used site here in Finland for secondhand goods. Huuto.net and nettimarkkina have been around for longer and are far more comprehensive in terms of variety.
However it is always a bit of a lottery when you are looking for something specific. If you aren't prepared to wait for one to come along then it's off to the department stores for you.

I'd hit some cheapo store like HongKong

Does Honk Kong sell Samsonite or similar that actually holds the stuff in them and has wheels that roll and stay attached? Few things are as annoying as a poor quality suitcase when traveling.

Well I've had a trolley from there that has those "rollerblade wheels" on for... ummm... long time. Their own "deuzer" brand I think. Haven't been in for a while, would need a new set.

"pyörällinen matkalaukku" or "pyörillä varustettu matkalaukku"

You can find some cheap ones here :
