Moi! I would love to make cheese cake during my stay in Finland.
Can I get
Philadelphia cream cheese from the supermarket?

Yeah, it's pretty easily available. There's also
quark cheese and the Valio brand cream cheese named Viola. I haven't tried either of the latter two in a cheesecake, though. I grew up with graham cracker cheesecake crusts, but there's none of that here! I've used
Jyväshyvä's kaurakeksi (oat cookie) with good results.

Yeah - tons of it - almost anywhere - light and regular and 'flavored'
A bit over 2€ for the familiar 'block' - add 20% for Stockmann

see there was a simultaneous posting --
Quark works IN ADDITION (but if alone creates a damn good result too) - (Lidl good price) - but the Viola will be a catastrophe if you are expecting anything like the world-traditional cheesecake. Finnish 'tuorejuusto' will not work either (surprised some Finnish outfit hasn't found a way to get Philly taste - almost every other cheese product has found a Finnish 'copy' - ok in my mind.

Yes. Near the Koskenlaskija, I saw it at Citymarket on special yesterday.

philadelphia cream cheese or substitution
Caution - no real substitute - Quark (kvaarki) will make a very good 'cheese cake' and so will Finnish 'rahka' - but they WILL NOT taste what you might know as 'NY Cheesecake' - and of course that's fine - just don't expect the 'same'
