CNC-operator/ programmer....salary?

Post by radosl81 » Thu Dec 16, 2010 11:17 pm

Hello everyone. What is the average salary for CNC-operators/ programmers in Western Finland, with english and a little finnish? I'm working now in Eastern Karelia, but looking for work somewhere in the west.
Thank you so much.

In my personal experience approx between 32-38k - of course that all depends on age / experience / bonuses / shift pattern structure.

salaries used to be 3500-4000, however, in scope on mass layoffs in various software companies, e.g. Nokia trims 800 R&D workers, I wouldn't expect high rate.

Thank you guys. Is that means from 15 to 27 euros per hour? Is it possible to get more than 20 euros/hour without finnish language?

I guess this is a CNC operator within the metal industry. Now depending on the size of the company and of course the scope of the work. Eg. Drilling basic holes with in low tolerances in junk steel - compared to high tolerances shape moulding is going to justify the hour rate.
Programming / surfcad etc is going to give you a more of an hour rate than someone who stands in front of a machine and changes pieces and presses the start button.
A basic button pusher / loader is going to earn a basic 11-13 euros an hour. If you can set up job runs / part program / fine tune etc then add another 1-2 euros on top. If you are sitting in a clean tidy office working on production processes / and programming surfcam / cad etc then you could be on anywhere from 15-20 euros per hour.
So if you think you can earn 20 euros as a basic operator please let me know the company - as I may apply there myself. You also need to remember that the recession has forced a lot of metal companies out of business. The industry took a bit of a tumble. 5-6 yrs ago they were screaming out for workers. Today is a different story. Finnish companies have a hard time competing with the likes of Eastern europe and of course china and have been forced to cut staff / hours / wage increases, so they can keep the production cost down. Getting a job within the industry with lack of Finnish is not that much of a problem, due to the nature of the work. Drawings, machines etc are usually in English as you may know. But don't expect that by working in or around the capital area that is going to give you a higher salary because believe me it won't. As living expenses will increase you could well face the problem of being worst off. Good luck in your pursuit

Old Topic .. but how exactly you guys calculate 20e/h salary .. I work that in about 3 years already in Finland and never seen that kind of stuff. Well if you're cad cam designer somewhere maybe more, but for operator only.. com'on :D
3 000/month brutto is quite possible with a lot of but... :beer_yum:
