Post by hazemamin » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:22 pm

Dear all, i need urgent advice, two days ago i received an e-mail from construction company in Helsinki called YRJONTYTAR CONSTRUCTION and they offering me a job as Business Developement Manager. I signed the offer and sent back to them. They replied that i am advised to provide them with the below proceedings requirements to enable them provide the concerned authorities all official requirements both in my home Country and Finland:
1. letter/declaration of crime free from the ministry of interior
2. My Finnish Employee Chip ID fee of 2,999 Euro
Now i have two questions:
1-Does any one knows this company and if it is trusted or no? and is it a big scall construction company in Finland?
2-Does i should pay that big amount of money to get that Finish Employee Chip ID? I think this fees should be paid by compnay not by employee, am i right?
Please advise urgent :?:

Sounds like a total scam.

It also sounds like this came completely out of the blue. Business Development Manager and you don't even know anything about the company? Haven't interviewed, visited, researched them? They just saw your name on a forum somewhere and thought you'd be their perfect Business Development Manager? Come on...

I hope you didn't give them any personal information on the paperwork you sent them that would enable identity theft.

Just look at their website -- all English, no substance, just a stew of cliches poured into the pot and stirred together, registered to a southeast Asian name and hosted by GoDaddy?

Let's hope they're ONLY looking for you to be foolish enough to send them 3,000 Euros and haven't already hijacked your identity.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

I don´t even bother to search Kaupparekisteri (where all companies are registered). Come on, CEO´s name is KRISTOFFER YRJÖNTYTÄR (Kristoffer Yrjö´s daughter). Not a single person´s last name is – or has ever been – Yrjöntytär. Takes one second to check from Population Register´s name search.

They are supposed to have "industrial division", building pipelines and so on. What a laugh, they don´t even have a street address. Where on earth do all these "divisions" personel sit? In the POST BOX?

Actually I think this would be something for the police. Looks like the smell leads to Ivory Coast.

And lets see the illustrious "management team":

- Kristoffer Yrjöntytät (OK, not a single Yrjöntytär has ever been living)

- Mathew Lansivuoni (Chief Financial Officer) ---> A Finn named Mathew? No way. And LANSIVUONI??? What is that? Somebody has been trying to get LÄNSIVUORI but misspelled a big way.

- Sirpa Airikkala (Director, Corporate Affairs & Business Strategy) ---> The only Finnish name here that actually is a Finnish name

- Nasiru Tanko (Director, Human Resources, General Manager Ivory Coast branch) ---> Wow, they have an Ivory Coach branch! I have been married to different Finnish construction companies for 35 years and not a single one has ever had an Ivory Coast branch. Have I missed something?

- Lemminkäinen Mannisenmaki (Director, Legal Affairs) ---> This is propably the best one ---> Lemminkäinen is a Finnish construction company, Mannisenmäki was some Finnish rally driver´s map reader

- Raymond Marjaana ( Director, Operations ) ---> Raymond? A Finn named Raymond? And MARJAANA? Marjaana is a Finnish female name, and again according to Population Register not a single person has – or has had – it as a last name

- lev Agletdinova ( Manager, Ivory Coast branch ) ---> And then this slightly Russian sounding (but not quite) name takes us to Ivory Coast...

This should go to Police.

I was going to say they couldn't even make up a realistic Finnish name, thinking of the company rather than the individual people, at whose names I didn't look closely. But when I Googled Yrjöntytär just to be on the safe side, I got 16,000 hits. Some on the first page look credible and so I decided to stay silent on that particular point..

I've certainly never heard of anyone non-Icelandic before today with that kind of last name. To be sure, most of the ones on Google appear to have died in the 1700's or earlier.

My favorite that I've seen so far is Yrjöntytär Gregoriuksentytär for which there seems to be no information beyond the name. Is there even a possibility that is a real name? Like Nelson Swensson, maybe?

And even those didn´t have it as a last name, just more like a clarification that some woman is Yrjö´s daughter, and not Matti´s (Varpu Yrjöntytär Vuohelainen, Kaarina Yrjöntytär Hinkkanen). And they are all in some genealogical pages. Like Population Register says: No one has – or ever has had – that as a last name. Take a second to check.

And every single Finnish company would have their pages first and foremost in Finnish, then Swedish (second domestic). And if some Finnish company builds pipelines they certainly have their pages in Russian.

Yrjöntytär Gregoriuksentytär has been some woman whose father´s name has been Yrjö. The clergyman has wanted to clarify and has added the Latin translation of Yrjö, hence Gregoriuksentytär. I wonder what the poor woman´s own name was...

Poor Kristoffer. Talk about being "a boy named Sue"...

But I'll bet those are all hijacked photos of real people who don't even know their image is being used to hype a scam.

Insomnia. OK, so they give a street address: Lehtisaarentie 7. The problem with that is that Lehtisaari is 100 % upper class residential area, no office buildings except an old empty mall that is soon to be demolished. And according to aerial pictures Lehtisaarentie 7 is an unbuilt plot in the forest next to the sea.

I just wonder what could the Finnish police do because it seems that there is not a single Finn involved. With even one they would have made a better scam...

I doubt there is much our police can do. If somebody has a blog, he could link here to make this thread go up in google results, but I assume the company will vanish shortly to be resurrected with a different name, perhaps this time as a Swedish one.
