 you're an effing loonie

lucho, there aren't necessarily any special photography schools - but are you looking for degree programmes, short courses, beginners or advanced...? knowing that could help a bit.

e.g. at the University of Arts and Design http://www.taik.fi/ you can specialise in photography. But that's towards the high end of photography education - degree level arts studies. Adult education centres, art schools etc might offer a variety of courses, on more a hobby-like basis. Depends a bit on what you want.

If you're located in Helsinki why not ask these guys?

If one splashes out on one of the SLR Nikons included is quite a good on line Photography Course...
I have s D40 and this gives you a few samples..
It is based around not just how to drive the beast, but also lighting/scene selection and many tricks and tips that turn snap shots into Art.

Nikon have other similar on line course that you can access when you buy their products.
I just got their lighting system (External Multi Flash) quite complicated..but the guide/course is quite good and easy to follow especialy if you have the camera being used on the course in your hand.
Note I see that are lots of adds for special offers on the D40 for Xmas...  just after I bought mine.

Edit...for those interested (and with 500€ to spare) the main Nikon dealer in Tapiola near Suomalainen kirjakaupa has some good offers.
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

Hello everybody,
in 2011 in Lahti (about an hour to Helsinki) it will open a Photography Center where all the courses will be given in English.
Classes go from Basic Photography to more specific courses like Documentary Photography, Lighting, Photojournalism, Portraiture, etc
Take a look: http://www.internationalphotocenter.com
For info: info@internationalphotocenter.com
Ciao

Could well be, but I was coming to do the same thing. I guess that makes me a lesser loonie. Or just a slower one.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

Hi,

I am a photographer and teacher from Ireland based in the Helsinki area. I will be teaching a Beginners Digital photography course in English at KameraSeura April 9th & 10th. You can check it out through the link below. You do not have to be a member of the club to participate.
