Day Care for a 5 month old baby girl
Day Care for a 5 month old baby girl
Hello,
Due to my problems with KELA(I didnt get maternity allowance because I was only 179 days[you need 180 days..] covered by KELA, pls, dont even comment on this fact because I have heard enough from this absurd), I will have to start working full time asap. We have applied for a day care and days ago we got to know we got the place, but today they said they will not be able to take our daughter. Does anyone know a daycare that would take a 5 month old baby or even 6 months(we could wait until that)? We live in Pähkinärinne, Vantaa. We would even be able to take her to Myyrmäki, if there is a place there!

Hello,
Perhaps you can look for someone to watch your child at home? Do you already have work? I only ask because full time work is hard to find, so if you dont have work yet, you just might be home for many many months to come anyway. I think the earliest they let kids at my son's daycare is 9 months. good luck!

its pretty hard to get a daycare for a 5month old, i suggest you wait until she is 8 months old. plus don't forget since your child might be the youngest, their is a risk of her falling sick especially this time of season, since kids do pass infections to each other easily in the daycare and more phone calls to you to pick up your kids and stay home until she gets better. maybe you should wait.
If you wish to convince people of something, it is more useful to be entertaining than to be right

Hi All,
We got a place in Martinlaakso, but the problem now is that Kela decided that they wont give us any help for day care before our baby is 10 months...so, we will keep the search in case I get fulltime job, instead of part time one I currently have.

How about baby's father? Did he immigrate at the same time or later, because if not, he could get the "paternal allowance" (paid between the end of "maternity leave" and the beginning of possible "home care support" time for either mother or father) if he gets off from work to take care of the child.lutsia wrote:Hi All,

I understand you, the same happened to me. Have you tried ask to Social Office? They should help you,if Kela doesn't. I lived in Turku, I didin't get the Maternity and Social Office always helps.
What do you think about that? Or you think is better you get a job?
Bests

Only if the family is otherwise without savings and sufficient incomeanaf505 wrote: Social Office always helps.

If the cost was the same, would you hire a nanny? A nanny can provide lots time intensive personalized care for the things like feeding and sleeping which take up so much of a baby's life.
