Hello to all. I am back after a fw years. Infact i needed to use a different email to create a new account.
I live in Helsinki now for 2+ years and I have a contract with my former US company. I am looking to meet with someone or at least get good feedback here as to what is the best way to organize pay, pension and taes to not get totally hammered the way I am gettting now with this blasted progressive tax system. If you can meet with me near Helsinki please let me know. I look forward to it.

Independent Entrpreneur: What is the best way to set up to p
Re: Independent Entrpreneur: What is the best way to set up
If you have only one customer/employer then it doesn't really matter too much how you do it - the results are the same.
Choices:
Employee (... with or withour a freelance tax card: pre-paid tax system, % deducted from salary at source)
Toiminimi (same but you do your own bookkeeping and you have to register for VAT)
Oy (Limited company, you need to register a company at the Patents Office www.prh.fi and then find an accountant to the bookkeeping, annual accounts, payroll etc - hardly worth it for two years).
Move (get yourself permanent residency in a different country, eg UK, Estonia with lower taxes)
To be blunt and honest - you won't get much help or sympathy on here since we are all working our pants off and paying progressive tax like everyone else in this country. The only way to avoid progressive tax is to ensure that most of your income is from capital gains (ie: unearned income).
