Temp permit ran out (start a job)
Temp permit ran out (start a job)
Hi, I have been in Finland for 6 months now and I got a Temp permit for 6 months when I came here and it ran out on the 1st of May but I now have a job that will start on the 16th of May what should I do?
Re: Temp permit ran out (start a job)
You have to supply more information:
- are you EU or not
- what was the reason for the temp permit (6 months is odd)
- what kind of job contract you have (open, end time etc)
- in what branch is the job
- are you EU or not
- what was the reason for the temp permit (6 months is odd)
- what kind of job contract you have (open, end time etc)
- in what branch is the job
Re: Temp permit ran out (start a job)
If you are of such a nationality that you don't need a visa for short term (tourist) visits, you can stay here after the expiry of your permit up to three months (if not, you're here now illegally). You can not work before you have a permit, and as the old permit is expired you'll be considered a first time applicant. It would have been better if you would/could have applied before the expiry of the old permit.

OK, so you are EU?
You got an ID number?? Ok the paper may say temporary bladeblah. Its still valid, you just need to get yourself registered as a permanent, the police paper and so forth. It makes you look good in the computer, so you get less runarounds.
EU means you can sit and exist, getting registered as a resident, thats the thing getting social security etc.

Ok, when you said "permit" I thought you were non-EU (people who actual need permits)
Go and re-register, for a EU citizen with a job there should be no difficulty.
