We are looking for a native English-language copywriter to write and adapt text for online services, including

- online marketing campaigns and advertisements

- consumer sites, especially youth-oriented sites

- mobile services

- corporate sites

- technical and B-to-B services.

For this position, knowledge of digital technologies is valuable, and a background in advertising, journalism, communications, or editing is a necessity. Experience with youth- and gaming-oriented services is an advantage.

The work demands precision, creativity, flexibility, and teamwork. In return, we offer the chance to work closely with international clients and bright colleagues in an informal, stimulating, and professional atmosphere.

Only native English writers will be considered for the position. Start date: September 2003. Temporary one-year position that might be extended into a permanent position (negotiable).

OK, tell me about this company. Financially sound? Type of work environment? Typical compensation? Type of personalities? Nationality of employees (other than Finnish)? Other?

The copywriters section was an American Finn, American and Canadian. Nice friendly group of people.

As for pay, I couldnt tell you as I was from another company. Although I have heard that the pay in a different section was quite poor.

But if youre interested give it a go.

Actually on checking their webpage the job has been removed, but it might be worth calling Kristian and asking.

Hi guys,
Well if you do some trawling of Satama you will find that not everything in the garden was rosey, but then again where is at this moment.

They pretty much shut down most of their international operations including the one in Amsterdam. But they seem an ok bunch.

The one thing I've found at the moment, is that when jobs are posted they go like wild fire. I dithered around to apply for a J2EE position advertised at Satama, by the time I got my arse in gear it was gone.

Also you may have noticed Gavin mention this, but eh CALL, don't send your CV into oblivion. I think most Finnish companies have tweaked they SPAM filters to cut out job applications too

well, sent and called and send again LOL

but job long gone... no worries, got myself sorted anyways. But I did get the feeling that I got the cold shoulder from them because I wasn't english or american (since they want native speakers) eventhough I explained to them in great detail that I am a english/dutch bilingual, as good as a native speaker.

Well, Sara - It may have been because they noticed that you are not able to write a simple short sentence or paragraph without making several grammar/spelling/punctuation mistakes. Who on Earth would hire a writer (are you a professional writer/journalist?) who can't write proper English?

People like you are the ones who give the bad name to true bilinguals.

Well, Susan - It wasn't Sara who wrote that post (way, way back in 2002 and by the way Sara is a native speaker) - I think you messed up with the quoting. Since you made an error typical of native FINNISH speakers in your last sentence (wrong article) and your syntax was unusual, I would guess you are not a native English speaker???

People like you are the ones who give true bilinguals a bad name.

Wow! What a bad atttude! Not to mention digging up a post 8 years old to pick on someone's language skills. Perhaps Susan, you need to take a look at yourself before throwing the first stone.
