Yahoo Answers in Finnish?

Post by joulupukki » Sat May 21, 2011 10:20 am

I was wondering if there was a equivalent to something like Yahoo Answers, but in Finnish?

It would be an addictive way to practice, by reading short questions in Finnish written by native speakers, and answering them in Finnish. If your answer doesn't get criticised for being incomprehensible, you know you are on to a good thing :D You may even get some corrections

There sort of is, but answering the questions is not open to the public but done by the Helsinki City Library librarians:
But you can comment/discuss the individual questions and their answers after the “official” answer has been posted – that is, if you have better knowledge on the subject or something to add.

They also have a separate English version of the service, as well as a Swedish one.

I’m not aware of a Finnish service that would work exactly like Yahoo!’s even though iGS is pretty close. Of course, just about any Finnish discussion forum on any subject that interests you (IT, music, electronics, games, movies, cars, arts & crafts, sports, history, whatever) could serve a similar purpose, at least to a degree.
