(Ammattikorti) Bus driving license

Hi,

I have a question?! I own bus driving license but would like to know if I would try to get job (for example) in Helsinki do I need to have "professional card" - as we call in my country. Because if I would try to get position as bus driver there, we need to have driving license and professional card which I mentioned above. Then it´s possible you can reply for some position as driver. Is it the same system here in Finland or I do not need this license?

I think it is to the individual companies to decide what level formal training they require. I don't think there is any general legal requirement apart from the driving licence (for a bus).

Linja-autonkuljettajan ammattitutkinnon voi niin ikään suorittaa näyttötutkintona. Koulutusta järjestetään ammatillisissa aikuiskoulutuskeskuksissa. Linja-autonkuljettajan ammattitutkintoon osallistujalla tulee olla D-luokan ajo-oikeus ja -kortti.

EU-säännös edellyttää uusilta linja-autonkuljettajilta perustason ammattipätevyyskoulutusta ja ammatissa jo toimivilta jatkokoulutusta 10.9.2008 alkaen. Perustason ammattipätevyyden hankkimisesta vapautetaan kuljettajat, joiden linja-auton ajo-oikeus on alkanut ennen 10.9.2008.

So yes you need a "professional card" if I read correct. However they are hiring people to train as bus drivers who only have a B, so getting this "show" done should not be any huge problem.

First of all thank you guys for such fast reply and maybe one more question if I can..?!

Is it possible if I am gonna make my professional card in my country (which belongs in EU) and printed also in EU format.It should be hypoteticly acceptable all over EU, am I right? Just have to visit driving school for re-learn traffic rules and passed exam once per 2yrs?!!

Hopefully that's all from side and really thanks, appreciate your help!!

Muissa ETA-valtioissa annettujen ammattipätevyyden osoittavien asiakirjojen tunnustaminen

Muussa ETA-valtiossa annetun 18 §:n 1 momentin mukaisen asiakirjan haltija saa kuljettaa kuorma- tai linja-autoa Suomessa

So document given in right format by another country of EEA area is recognized as valid here

If you passed your D before 10 Sep 2008 then you will of course have your "professional competence" by "Grandfather rights" enabling you to work until 2013, by which time you will need to complete 35 hours periodic training to keep your professional competence valid.

It's the same for large goods vehicle drivers except that the cut-off date for Grandfather rights is 10 Sep 2009.

Yes, several years' worth. In total I have worked for three companies in Finland, driving mostly full-size 60 tonne 25.25 metre A-frame wagon & drag, and semitrailer+auxiliary combos like you see in my profile picture. I currently work mostly for a firm that does removals and exhibition work driving euro-specification (19 metre) combos, and also fill in with a local company as and when it suits me and them.

No. I had to have a proper check-up at an optician when I turned 40, that's all. I guess my cargo is less precious than yours

And what about "professional license" - do you have renew it every year?

I passed my HGV licence in 1985, and have taken one day's training towards my driver CPC so am covered under Grandfather rights until 2013.

Anyway just replied for professional license in one driver school here and after that finally let´s get back in Helsinki. You helped my guys a lot, thanks a lot all of you!!

That profesional drivers licence course is a load of rubbish as far as Im concerned, Just recently done a road safety course and this was covered, we were told no tests at the end or even understanding of topics covered, all that is required is attendance you can even do the same topics repeatedly until you reach 35 hours ( the required time) and that is acceptable. Just another money making scam
