I just moved to Uusikaupunki with my fiance and while he works I am looking for some experience. I have an English and Speech/Theatre degree from Eastern Michigan University and I have passed certification tests in both of those areas. I have a secondary education endorsement but I am eager to work with any age group. I don't speak Finnish but I am learning as much as I can. I will be here until at least December. If any one has advice or a job for me please let me know. I can tutor or help an existing teacher also. I am looking to gain valuable experience about the Finnish teaching model to take back to the U.S.A. From what I have heard, the United States has a lot to learn about proper education and Finland is a great place to take lessons from.

American Teacher looking for work!
Re: American Teacher looking for work!
there is lots of international schools in helsinki and it is pretty easy to get a substitute work if you are interested. just find out the schools and walk in... that`s how my husband with a masters degree (antropology) got work. and you can also try to teach drama somewhere, i know that there is one "kansanopisto" that has english drama in their program.
good luck!
