Re: English Chef looking for restaurant work in Helsinki
-and there are gazillions of open jobs on www.mol.fi
One of my children is a trainee chef and he had no problems finding jobs in the summer. Maybe it's harder to find work in the autumn.

Best place to try is www.opteam.fi
Web hosting from 8€ a month http://www.Oxterweb.net

The best way to get a job as a chef in Helsinki is to pick a minimum of 5 restaurants that you would like to work at and go knocking on the doors, push your way in and offer your services free of charge for a day if they need a chef.
Check out palacekamp.fi and royalrestaurants.fi every week, you probably know that these companies own most of the restaurants in town and Royal is better with the food and their staff policy.
Staff+ are OK but you are looking at about 12€ an hour, the other idea is to write to all the larger embassies in Helsinki offering your services as a private chef from time to time.
You often see a good job on MOL.fi but they are quite rare and looking at the site regularily can get depressing
It seems to be about who you know and not what you know, I was lucky enough to get a job at Palacekamp when I first came here ( I did have 15 years experience) and I just stayed there until I knew how it all works and had met a lot of chefs.
Good luck
