Are you looking for a nanny in Helsinki?

Post by diepnguyen92 » Tue Sep 20, 2011 11:30 pm

Dear Family,

I am Diep Nguyen, 19 years old, coming from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Currently I am a student in Aalto University School of Economics, Helsinki, Finland. I have been in Finland for over 1 year, last year I was in Lahti, so I have got used to the culture here, and I can speak some basic Finnish. At the moment, I am looking for a part time nanny/au pair job in Helsinki region.

My experience with little kids is quite huge. At home, I have been taking care of 2 nieces and 1 nephew (my two elderly sisters' children) since they were born, now the biggest boy is already 7 years old. I used to feed them, take the bath for them, help them sleep,... think up different games and sing children english songs so that they can learn English since small age. My sisters often call me "the captain of little kid troop". Being far from home, I miss them so much, and that is one of the reasons why I want to become a nanny, to be with kids and make them smile, like what I did to my nieces and nephew.

Besides, for a long time I have been engaged in many other social activities for children, too. In the summer time, together with other friends, I organize games for all of the kids in my residents. We gather twice every week in the evening and play for about 1,5 hour each. Normally there would be more than 10 kids with me. In addition, during summer 2009, I was the teaching assistant as well as game organizer for the Breaking Free English Summer camp for children from 10-16 years old in Hanoi. This included 2 different camps, which lasted 10 days each. It was a very prestigious camp made by Vietnamese Youth Empowerment Program, cooperated with volunteers from Oxford and Cambridge University, U.K, supported by the British Council (A huge language center).

Then, since I was 16 years old, I have been the English and Math tutor for primary and secondary students. Mostly I was concerned about helping them become confident with class excercises, as well as improving their communication skills. I am proud to say that my one student, an 8 year-old girl, won the first prize in the English speaking contest for kids all over Hanoi.

Last year in Lahti, my school organized a friendship family program to help international students get used to Finnish culture. My friendship family was a young family with 2 kids, the bigger sister is 3 and the smaller one less than 1 year old. It is such a nice experience being with them, I get on so well with the family, and I learned a lot about what are typical for Finnish kids, as well as Finn's lifestyle.

So I have been living, playing and teaching children of various ages. They bring me inspiration, and I want to make them happy. Being a nanny, I look forward to more culture exchange, learning language and meeting new people. For housework, I am fond of cooking, especially Asian food, and I have no problem cooking or doing some light housework for your family. (Actually I would love to make some Vietnamese food for you!) I do not smoke, do not drink, do not drive and feel ok with pet. I am friendly, cheerful, easygoing, responsible and love to smile :) I don't want to become a nanny who just works for you or who serves your kids. I would love to help your kids be nice, organized, have fun, and I want to become a big friend of the family.

Contact me and let's have a great time :) I am happy to come to your home for an interview and to meet your family

Best regards,
Diep Nguyen
