Hello,
I will be shifting to Espoo and working in Nokia office from Jan next year. Can someone advice which could be a suitable living area. Ideally I would like to stay near office or near to some english day care center.
I found this daycare center from internet www.carouselnursery.fi(there were few more but I had to select one so selected this), any feedback on this daycare? Is there some specific area which is fav. among foreigners(specially Indian)?
Best Regards
Himanshu
Where to live in Espoo
Re: Where to live in Espoo
There is more than one address (that are rather far apart), so you should be more specific than that.hmittal wrote:Hello,

Are you planning to bring a or buy a car? If not, here you can check the commuting times using public transport:Can someone advice which could be a suitable living area.

You are not planning to stay here? OK (because otherwise the English language day care center could be a big mistake).Ideally I would like to stay near office or near to some english day care center.
(other people remember the addresses better)
I think in Espoo too (I live in Helsinki) the foreigners working for Nokia like to live in areas that don't have large number of foreigners (= because the latter areas have high concentration of people dependent on social housing, which includes some large groups of foreigners. The areas tend not to be popular among people that can choose, foreign or domestic)Is there some specific area which is fav. among foreigners(specially Indian)?
Re: Where to live in Espoo
If you're working at Nokia House (main headquarters), I would consider living in Helsinki. There's much more to do in Helsinki than Espoo and there are literally about 17 buses that go by Nokia, so one is always leaving every minute or two and it's a 9 minute ride from the Kamppi bus station in Helsinki to the Nokia offices.
Re: Where to live in Espoo
I lived at Kamppi (Hki) and worked at Espoo, it takes about 10min or even less by car (depending on traffic) and same time by public transport (buses) to get there.
In Espoo I would consider Tapiola, especially if come with family.

Re: Where to live in Espoo
I'm biased on this, but the Greater Tapiola area definitely. Espoo's Metro/subway will be ready 2015 and has stops in Tapiola and Niittykumpu, Nokia House and Keilaniemi will have it's own stop as well.
