Job Seeker (Education, Writing)

Post by pierre c » Mon Nov 28, 2011 7:36 pm

Greetings,

My family and I have recently pried ourselves out of London's death grip and have relocated to Jyväskylä. We hope to move to Helsinki sometime next year.

I'm an English/History high school teacher, qualified in Ontario, Canada and the UK (Qualified Teacher Status). I have 15 years teaching experience. I also have a TEFL certificate, though I realise there isn't a massive demand for EFL teaching in Finland.

I've also done some freelance writing over the years -I'd be quite keen to learn about any editing/proof-reading opportunities, whether in the public or private sector.

I also have vast snow shovelling experience.

I look forward to your potentially soul-destroying comments. :)

Death grip to death freeze?

Are you qualified to teach in Finland is the question, like for this classroom teacher position. Which would require a masters degree in pedagogy. But if you have a masters degree in history and English and a minor in pedagogy? I mean thats the minimum that "qualifies" you to corrupt minors as an Subject teacher of history & English. But no worries, if you have funny foreign papers qualifying you to be the janitor at a school you can always aspire to the polytechnics I mean UAS's, they don't have as stringent requirements. (The younger the kids the higher the requirements).

You can always start writing whiney articles into the few English language newspapers - the whinier the better they sell.

From last "winter" in London?
I look forward to your potentially soul-destroying comments.

Thank you. We were beginning to think we'd never make it here...
