Hey guys,
This will probably be one of the most rare questions you've had here in a while, but here it is nonetheless: Once you've got a job in Finland, is it a problem to just quit in case you find something better? I'm an engineer, so it would be in business related to that (we're not talking quitting your McDonald's job). Is there any sort of penalty for that?
I just wanted to clarify that before embarking myself into my first job search, and decide whether I want to 'try first' in a summer job and then going indefinite time or just go for it from the beginning. All of this is due to fear to choosing the 'wrong' career path for me and being stuck in some dungeon spouting code.
BRs,
Juan.
Quitting a job: A problem?
Re: Quitting a job: A problem?
Are you here on a employment based residence permit (at least I do not understand what you mean with penalty if you're not)? If so, the new work should be compatible with your current permit: http://www.migri.fi/netcomm/content.asp ... guage=EN#7
Re: Quitting a job: A problem?
Most contracts have a notice period, you should maybe check that when you take the job. Also most jobs have a 4 month probation period at the beginning, during which either the employer or you can go your separate ways.
Re: Quitting a job: A problem?
Some contracts have a clause that doesn't allow you to work for a comparator in the same field.
And that might give you some problems while your RP is based on work in a specific sector.

Yes this is really the time to be critical to every job offered.
- 25 percent of Froreigners unemployed
- Layoffs from large companies almost every day
- Obligatory holidays every week
- Employers want unemployment benefits down
- Employers want people to work full-time over the age of 65 (except themselves)
- Diesel will increase with 10 percent so more companies will fall because they do not bring it with horses anymore.
- Leading party Kokoomus is almost a translation of Employers union (they will never tell you:-)
Etc. etc.
