Best way to learn Finnish?

What should i do?
use textbooks?
Or are there any other options?

Everyone says Rosetta but I've been told they don't even support Finnish.

Best way is to start to talk finnish and read a lot. This is based on my experience where i did around 5-7 different courses and all they taught was grammar. This ruined my motivation until i started using it and reading stuff and lookup meanings. Its a slow process but the progress is very impressive.

I think, you should read books and speak with people, but you can also spend time with vocabulary. Im learning of a few languages (france, spanish and germany) and i spend all my 'waiting' time on a vocabulary.

In coffeebreaks at work i read words in my telephone, if i waiting for a bus or something, im learning the declension of words... I'd learn a 10+ words a day just for spending little time for this. And spend lot of time with books and if you wanna ask something or just speak with finnish, i can teach you for it in here :)

Except in Finnish there's very little use to learning words without the standard phrasal formulations in which they appear. So studying vocabulary, yes, but the objects are the little functional groups of words that form the true building blocks of the language.

If you only learn individual nouns and verbs plus grammar, you'll quickly be able to construct thousands of things no speaker of the language would ever say or even necessarily understand. You may say that's true of all languages, but I assure it is a multiple of times more true of Finnish than of commonly learned European languages.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

And why not also trailers with Finnish subtitles : http://www.finnkino.fi/Event/299006/
( Click on "Katso traileri" on that page ! )

You can of course always freeze the picture if you want to take a closer look at the translation. If the translation is difficult to understand you can ask Finns on this forum to explain it to you. So every trailer can be a short Finnish lesson.
