Telephone number list of annoying telemarketers in Finland?

Post by Kutittaa » Tue Jan 17, 2012 8:02 pm

Was wondering if anyone knows, or has been building one. Just got another call then, second time today and 5th this week on my wife. Wife has had 3 so far... must be that time of year again.

I've been building a list so far but is there some list somewhere? Shame you can't even call these guys back and tell them to stop calling you, the number is always busy. There's a law against that in most places...

Thanks a lot Upphew. That was exactly what I wanted. I'll go sort that out tomorrow as I have some free time.

If I recall correctly, there was a robotic answer machine with a female voice which required you to confirm your opting out by saying aloud the Finnish word “Kyllä”. The opt-out is per phone number so if you have both a landline and a mobile phone, or several mobile phones, you need to call the number from each of your phones separately.

is this what you're looking for-> http://whycall.me or http://whocallsme.com/, it's not only finnish numbers, there are U.K numbers as well, but should be a good start. If you have a smartphone there are also apps you can use to block the numbers you have in your database

I have 8 or 9 numbers blocked on my phone. Calls are just instantly dropped from those numbers. It's a polite way to not waste their time or mine. Which is more than I can say for them. They can just move on to the next guy.

I was looking for a list I could import either automatically or manually into my phone whereby all those numbers would be blocked. If I can just opt-out then I will do that myself.

But does that mean my number is marked that I am not to be called? Or does it mean that my number is taken out of the system? Will it also remove my little entry from Fonecta etc? I don't care, just curious.

Thanks again :)

ASML keeps a list of numbers that are not to be called, their member companies should poll their number list against the do-not-call list. So even if you participate in a raffle that says that the contact information can be used to marketing purposes, ASML members won't call you (during the three year period).

^ In other words, it’s not the same thing as making your number unlisted (salainen puhelinnumero).

Interesting that it is a 0600 number - (PAY THRU THE NOSE) - and depending on waiting time, verbal 'gymnastics' on the part of the call receiver, etc. it could run 5-10€ (plus one's own time) to stop an annoying practice that one did not initiate at all.

There should be a free, quick registration system - but hey, the crooks would lose their 'Sampo.'

The other option is to become extremely irate and abusive to the caller. I used this tactic on both my phones a few years ago and haven't been called since - maybe I'm blacklisted

Agree it's not a very pleasant experience for the telemarketer, but the method is free and it seems to work. And after all, who the fook do they think gave them the right to interrupt my life unnecessarily, when I'm eating, drinking or sleeping.
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Have kinda tried that - not being nasty or angry though - but the lists are so automated it didn't work

Worst one now seems to be Telia-Sonera

After coming back to Aust I have found that Optus keeps harassing me with text message surveys and phone-calls about surveys. Funny thing is I never have reception to answer them and they keep calling even though I went through the 30 seconds it took me to do one when someone called whilst I was in town, so I had reception.

I just added their number to the 'blocked callers' on my phone. But I still get an annoying message saying they tried to call, so really it's no different.
