Interesting subject. As a generalisation, (and as a woman) I would suggest that Estonian women MIGHT indeed be more "beautiful", simply because their gene pool is more mixed - many have Russian/Tartar/etc. blood, not to mention those who are technically from Estonia, but not actually Estonian, but Russian. The greater gene-pool mix generally leads to greater beauty, there is a reason why so many models come from Brazil..........Finnish women are less likely to be "mixed" and therefore, over time, specific features can be compounded (widely spaced eyes, loss of epicanthic fold - typically Baltic features). But, of course, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

Regarding clothing and femininity. How interesting it is to note that in societies where female economic and political power attains equality (or close to it) to male economic/political power, women in these societies seem to feel less need to dress in what is perceived to be an "ultra feminine" way. This would seem to make a mockery of the idea that women dress to "please themselves". It seems that they DO dress to attract men, particularly when there is a chance of attracting rich men and thus improving ones social and economic status...................... Go to any town in Bosnia or Serbia on a weekend night and your eyes will pop with the "get up" of the local woman. And it is very SPECIFICALLY to attract the attention of the local "wide boys" because there are few opportunities in these places. Not suggesting that it is not nice to see a woman looking good, but Finnish women don't overdo it - they don't need to.

By the way, those Russian/Estonian/other foreigners look pretty stupid in their high-heeled pointy-toed boots and short furry jackets trying to negotiate the slushy, icy streets in the middle of winter............. There is a point when women take on a "caracature" appearance, and when they look totally inappropriate to the climate/environment, it's just silly. I'll give finnish women my vote here.

The weather in Helsinki region sucks, it is windy most of the time so it is understandable that local women don't have much of the choice. Imagine that you see a lady in skirt, then mother nature decides to show you some upskirt moments :P Besides crazy prices, you have appalling quality of fabric and lack of variety in color and choice. And of course most of the local ladies (the keyword is most) look like albinos when you catch them off guard without the tools of deception known as makeup :ochesey: Slavic ladies are the best and there's the reason why majority of local dudes drool over them.

Just getting sick about the black and black dressings both the local males and females wear all the time here in Finland, could some tell me the reason behind this ? I am wondering is it because of the high rock and roll culture here in Finland ? I was watching the Finnish idol and also The voice of Finland , 95 percent of the artist , judges and also the master of the ceremony are all wearing black clothes, this keeps me perplexed.

’Cause black is both the old and the new black?

Or “once you go black, ...”

I have a theory, though...

’Cause black is both the old and the new black? I agree with you, both this leaves people less creative about their sense of colours in fashion.

Or “once you go black, ...” Hmm, I've heard that said for as long as I can remember. I've heard it said egotistically by black men and in a racist context by an older white woman who meant that if you dated a black man, no white man would ever have you. I believe it has to do mostly with the popular concept that black men are more well-endowed. On the other hand, I've also heard black men do not believe in cunnilingus - so I guess it just depends on what you like.I don't think any of it matters one bit - it's what you like, the depth of your feeling, compatability, and communication.

I have a theory, though...
."musta hoikentaa" yes for extra sized and shaped people they can consider this, but not for even the skinniest of all taking on black colours.

But then the one who is _not_ wearing black would stick out like a sore thumb. And as you have maybe noticed Finnish culture doesn't like things that stick out and don't conform.

This!
With black or dark clothing, you don't look like a Christmas tree. Whenever I go on vacation to some sunny place, I end up buying some sarong or scarf or something that is great in that environment, but as soon as I get back home, I realise that I can not wear that colourful clothing unless I'm at a masquerade party or something. Who wants to look like their young child picked the colour scheme for the day?

Is this a unique trait in a modern industrialized nation?

Probably not, as being “unique” would make us stick out and not conform, and nobody wants that!

Maybe those living in The Countries of Colorful Clothing do it for similar reasons — that is, peer pressure, or rather, childhood conditioning and partially unconscious emulation of the colorful, brash styles and patterns you are accustomed to seeing in your immediate environment.

Appearance is the most important factor in our daily life style. In current society a person appearance, dressing and clothing does matter a lot. Dressing sense is said to be the reflection of a person's personality as well as it reflects the occasion for which the individual person attends. Depending upon this people of different tastes, cultures and behavioral of works. Dresses or cloths divided into casuals wear, formal wear, comfort wear and traditional wear. As classified above those all are situational and occasional wears. Here the main role is played by the issue of dressing sense, it comes in to picture .that means providing sense for situation and relating our dress to a particular dress. That means wearing formals for office and blazers and trousers of official purposes, wearing swimming wear as well as casuals when u go for beach locations A good dressing sense can do wonders with the right kind of fashion. Dressing sense doesn't only mean situational wearing of cloths but it also states the color combinations of your wear. Black trousers and white shirts are the ideal and ever lasting combinations in similar way we can state that any kind of dark shirts with light color trousers can also be stated as the ideal form of dressing. As stated dressing sense can vary from gender to gender that means females and males have different choice and there interest of dresses and coming to kids they also have dresses with respect to there age groups. Fashions also place a main role part of our clothing and dresses.

The meaning of the colors for dressing and personality traits:

Black: Sober persons, likes to be in their world and takes things with a very analytical mind.

Blue: Self centered persons, usually of square mind with a kind of flexibility, are the typical genius and the ones who likes to dialogue and are persons who loves with all the heart and making others to feel safe and confortable.

Yellow: Happy persons, with positive attitude and are the ones who starts new ideas and projects.

Green: Loving persons, who cares about others feelings, positive and charismatic persons, likes projects and constant personal development.

Red: Impulsive persons and also apassionate, likes ideas and loves new feelings and cares about his/her feelings to be able to extiriorize to others are very secure people.

Brown: Nature caring people, their feelings are guided toward protection and making others feel secure.

Pink: Sign of a good self-stem and often are people who likes to share and making others feel confortable.

Gray: Usually persons of fixed ideas and centered feelings towards him/her and for others feelings.

If someone has a particular color in his/her wardrobe you can guide yourself to this guide and if someone has variety of colors is an open mind person.

Good Luck and hope this help you in the best way possible for your colour combination in dressing!

Well, it sounds a bit kinky but if you have received local anesthesia at the dentist’s and are positioned in a suitable way... the lady might object to that, though.

Interesting observation, perhaps that correlation applies to those countries but I wouldn't agree for others. Sometimes dressing up is just that.

Hilarious and true, however there can be a good balance between practical but nice dressing. I don't give my vote to the Finnish women here, I think it's horrible that sometimes in the winter you can't tell the difference between a man and a woman except for a few lipsticks here and there. I once heard a workmate say that Finnish women wear the same jeans all winter and in the summer they just fold the same jeans up to the knee and voila..summer wear. I have also heard many foreign women complain that Finnish men don't notice whether you're dressed up or not, it's all the same for them and they won't pay any compliments in that area.
