I and my husband have been living in Finland 1 and half year. First we had B type 6 months residence permit then again B type 1 year residence permit ( because of my husband contracts 1 year- 1year extension) then yesterday when we got our residence permit I realized that the type is A but 1 year again. What does it mean? Do you have any idea? So next year for example can we get more than 1 year eventhough his work contract is 1 year?

Hi, i dont know if this piece of information will still be relevant now but i'll pass it on anyway. If you and your husband now have a 1yr 'A' residence permit, then its subject to renewal next year provided your husband still have his work contract valid. The permit will however be renewed to a 4yr term and subsequently to a permanent residence permit. One has to continue holding the 'A' residence permit a a continuos 4yrs before you'll be qualified for permanent residence permit. But it all depends on the validity of your work contract. I hope this helps? wish you guys all the best in Finland

One thing to add,if the "A" resident permit is not locked.I will suggest your husband also get a permanent job in other fields. He can get a longer RP extension.Wish u the best
