My favorite places didn't make the list. For me it's kind of a toss-up between Joensuu and Seinäjoki. Each place has it's own special reasons.

My favorites are so vanilla: definitely Helsinki and environs #1, but also Tampere, Lappeenranta, Vaasa, Porvoo, Turku and environs -- all with emphasis on environs. I like nature near cities. Still, I've greatly enjoyed many driving trips through the countryside in many parts of the country, especially the hilly and rocky parts. Best domestic destination has probably been the folk music festival at Kaustinen.

Best trip so far overall has been a drive through Norway's mountains from Oslo to Stavanger and down around the coast through Kristiansand and back to Oslo. No other road trips have come close.
