Koskiklinikka in Tampere Doctor Visit

Post by somon3 » Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:49 pm

I want to go to for check-up such as blood and urine test. I wonder does Kela cover this expenses from a private clinic like koskiklinikka?
Also I wonder do the doctors usually do the this tests without any problem? I mean I have no specific problem but I want to be sure..

I think without doctor's referral they cover nothing - and probably not that much even with one.

Thanks for the response
How about the normal hospitals? Are these kind of check up available? It does not really matter with or without money. I meanw which one do you recommend for example normal hospitals for check up or private clinics? Also for example I am a student in TUT. As a student are there options to do these kind of check up?

Goverment wont pay anything what doctor dont see necessary. If you want urine/blood tests you pay full price.
What you want is irrelevant, what doctor wants is relevant. Just because you want isnt reason to take tests and if you insist you pay full price.

I have had tests done at Koskiklinikka in Tampere without any Dr's referral and they have always asked for my kela card before preparing the bill. It has been my understanding that the bill was lowered as a result of me showing my kela card, but I can't say I have ever asked for the details. It seems that kela pays some, but not all, of the cost.

Did you claim the bill to Kela? I want to go check up and want to be sure my blood is Ok. So for the test how much did you pay? I want to get an idea..

`without any Dr's referral ` I heard from everybody without referral it is not possible. I want to tell the doctor that I want to know whether my blood is Ok.. I hope he/she will agree..

It is definitely possible to get tests done without a Dr's referral. People do it all the time. For example, a medical for an insurance policy or an HGV licence or a pilot's licence or whatever. If you know exactly what you want, just call and make an appointment. If you don't really know what you want then you probably need to see a Dr anyway.

Of course one can get tests done in private without referral. Real question is if it is possible to get anything from KELA without one. You (DMC) indicated that you at least thought you got discount (effectively credited for the money the clinic can collect from KELA on your behalf) without one. That would be a surprise to me.

For a student of TUT I would think the practical and economical option would visit the local YTHS clinic first, although even for that I guess one should have some medical problem first (test for infectious decease could in some cases be considered reasonable even without symptoms).
