More like 1600 after taxes. http://www.irishtimes.com/indepth/budge ... alculator/1833€/month, with no holiday pay?
And if you don't live in a shared house or a sublet then theres then the electricity, heating and council tax bills on top.checked rents on real apartments, 650 to 750 in real apartment withouth annoying unknows living in same place.
And the council tax isn't calculated off the salary as in Finland either, but its a separate bill.
BTW I was looking for a job in City West, so D24 quality hoods on the Luas was my cup of tea. I'd rather gone to Cork or even Athlone though.
Damn economy, now I'm stuck in the UK working for the limeys. And sharing a house with 6 people, I'm the only annoying one

So 1600 after taxes and 700 for rent + other expenses, lets say those are 100/month so i can say you get 800 per month after mandatory expences. That would mean that random long term unemployed would get about 360e more than minimum unemployment in finland.Pursuivant wrote:More like 1600 after taxes. http://www.irishtimes.com/indepth/budge ... alculator/1833€/month, with no holiday pay?

Well, you also need to be educated to have been in school to know English, and know which end of the computer to use. And that 360 would go to pay for fags and beer with Irish prices... ah yes, but in that job you don't get fag breaks so you can give up.I'd say if you were single, didn't own anything but the clothes on your back or were bankrupt it might be an option - they have palm trees growing and theres a flying pig at the Dublin Airport.

In fairness to the OP, there is a difference in level of expectation for fresh graduates in Ireland (and the UK) and Finland.
They would likely be unmarried, still used to living in shared accommodation and, importantly used to living on a student's budget (far below €1000 per month).
Call-centre or not, your average graduate from the British Isles would likely jump at the chance of a bit of cash in hand and putting a year or two working for IBM onto their CV before moving onwards and upwards.
Looking at it from the perspective of Hank / Onkko / people at this end of the line: the equivalent Finn fresh out of university here is going to be mid to late 20s, possibly married, perhaps even have a kid or two, and have a far higher level of expectation (and entitlement). Most will not get out of bed for less than €2k per month (see Onkko's calculations and thought process) and are looking e.g. to have their own flat and good career prospects from day 1.
The OP has not understood that the sort of people he is searching for (early 20's, qualified and willing to work for a modest wage to get experience) don't really exist in Finland.
Some of the Finnish posters clearly don't understand how the job market works for people outside of Finland.
In the UK and Ireland that sort of position would be filled by someone fresh out of Uni, age 21 - 22, looking for their first real job.StephenPmanpower wrote:My client IBM, one of the worlds leading IT companies are currently recruiting Finnish Technical Support Agents to work in its European Centre In Dublin Ireland.

Well, to be honest, the ad didn't really ask for any qualifications...sinikala wrote:(early 20's, qualified and willing to work for a modest wage to get experience)

Well they do, exactly the polytechnic IT students. Times being tight they might be in for a dive. Honestly though, any jobs popping up with "Finnish" the salaries are so crap they look like they're made for some desperate blondes with a "hot ginger syndrome" or "limey infatuation". Something like £14k in Belfast. The OP has not understood that the sort of people he is searching for (early 20's, qualified and willing to work for a modest wage to get experience) don't really exist in Finland.
