Hi,
I've moved to Finland from Hungary in march, have the residence permit, job, etc.
The only thing I miss is this car of mine, which I restored myself in the last few years, and kinda became a part of me. I'd like to bring the car here, because I don't want to sell it, and I don't like that it stands in a garage motionless (because it's probably the worst thing that can happen to a car).
It's a 26 years old chevy camaro, in good condition.
Luckily it is a EU spec model, so it has the EU head and taillights. So the inspection itself would go quite easy. Of course winter tires, engine heater, lamp switch mods... But it wouldn't be driven too often in the winter anyways.
The question is following: Do I have to bring my car in the first 6 month dated from when I arrived to the country, or can I do the registration tax-free later as well, if I bring it later on? (Unfortunately can't travel home till the fall.) What is the process exactly? Can I start it with the cars documentation, but without having the car here in the country?

Re: car registration questions
You have to bring the car in as "removal goods" when you move. After you are in the computer as a Finnish resident, you may not even drive a foreign-registered car without paying the taxes.
Lucky for you, Finns are USA car crazy, so Camaro parts aren't that hard to come by, and theres specialiced garages, you just need to part with cash.
