Do healthy Hot Dogs exist in Finland? What are they.
Now is the time for bbq & my wife just discovered that hot dogs are bad for our children.

Have a nice day!

The buns are also unhealthy, just plain white flour with pretty much no nutrients, almost the same as eating a similar amount of sugar.

A medical doctor told me the same, that white flour is about equal to sugar = no nutrients = worthless.

I don't believe healthy hot dogs exist anywhere.May be all is in the amount you eat and in the combination of bread and meat.Meat should be eaten with vegetables but with no bread at all, only rice could be added. That's what I've read in some medical magazines. Whether it's true I don''t know, but once or twice a week we can afford an unhealthy food.I suppose your kids don't eat hot dogs every day.

Why rice over grain? Both seem like medium to high GI foods:

I don't know why really.That's what I've read.
But having in mind that almost whole of Asia eats rice and rice containing foods and do not has overweight problems and too many kids with diabetes, leads to similar conclusions.

Replace white bread with rye bread buns, no-nitrate dogs and careful with what you add in. Not most likely healthy but better than alternative.
