Well payed job to fit my qualifications

Post by Bencahill96 » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:52 am

I have lived in England all my life more specifically Newcastle. I have just left Durham university with a masters in maths. I have A level passes in maths, business studies, physics and English language. I am looking to move to the north of Finland and am in need of a job that is well payed and suits my qualifications. Any help would be highly appreciative thanks!

You want to get a job counting raindeer? It depends of course on how far up north you're planning to move, but it's not exactly filled with jobs that fit your CV (or anyone's CV).
If up north means anywhere close to Oulu, you could try the Uni there I guess and see what pops up http://www.oulu.fi/english/
Other jobs, I'd suspect, would be much more applied, counting things or keeping track of X amount of things, but it's not impossible I guess.

I think even in the UK now you would be lucky to get a well paid job directly from Uni, but you want to move to a country where you don't speak the langauge, where a masters is these days is considered a base level qualification for many jobs (and everyone you are competing with for those well paid jobs will also have one) and to a part of the country with few if any international companies or even any large employers.

I think that you will be lucky to get any job never mind a well paid one that suits your qualifications!

A masters degree in maths... does not speak Finnish... "well payed" - neither English. North Finland... suits qualifications... hmmm... does Pohjanhovi employ toilet attendants?

May I express my concern regarding education at Durham University? We have a person claiming to have a Masters Degree from that school who obviously can't communicate fluently in writing the English language. If he did indeed pass with "A" level work in English language, then something is amiss! The use of the word "maths" instead of "mathematics" causes further concern. "Appreciative" rather than "appreciated"? Somehow, I always thought that anyone who had obtained a masters degree would have the ability to recognize obvious errors in writing. If you want a job that fits your demonstrated qualifications then cleaning "Porta-potties", rural outhouses and sweeping animal excrement off of the city street after a parade comes to mind.

A difference between NA English and British English
Right (dripping with sarcasm), and "appreciative"?

I don't remember the last time I used the word "mathematics". May be because I'm more used to BEng now.

Keep an open mind for something other than what's usual in our own neighbourhoods.
Sigh......OK. :ohno:

I have A level passes in... English language.
I can understand why Gove wants to bring the O-levels back.

Of course, theres always the choice of teaching English...

... come to think of it, no. And it isn't well paid in any case.

What does a mathematician "do" in any case?
