The Season of the Witch - an Icelandic crime series

Häxans tid ( The Season of the Witch ), an Icelandic crime series on Swedish tv :

The first episode was unfortunately nothing to write home about.

The tv series is based on a book. Here is some info and a review of the book in English :

And now a question: What does the Icelandic language sound like to you ? To me it sounds like a distant cousin of Finnish although the two languages are not related. Any other comments on the Icelandic language ?

The "rythm" is the same... something about the vowels and intonation that makes it "sound right".
Then again RTE sounds like Finnish-Swedish but I just can't understand a word.
"By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes."
