Traveling to Finland from The U.k With a spanishSchengenvisa

Post by jasin005 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 6:38 pm

I have a Spanish schengen visa, knowing that I am now In Spain and I will go soon to the UK, I'm planing to go to the UK and then go to Finland, Does a multiple entry visa allows me to go from the uk to finland knowing that I'm not going to finland through spain.

I have been told that In order to be able to enter to Finland I have to go from Spain directly (through the schengen area) to Finland.
I heard that going from Spain=========)to the uk then)===========) to Finland might be a little bit illegal I'm I able to go from the Spain========)London=====)Finland with my schengen visa? I'm just worried about the Finnish customs, they might say that I have to be in the schengen territory in order to enter Finland with my Schengen visa

Are you sure that UK is in Schengen zone? Because information says that UK and Ireland are out of it.

Schengen visa is supposed to be applied for the country that is your main destination in the Schengen zone, or if that designation is too difficult to make the first country you enter on Schengen zone. You're apparently entering (first time) in Spain and possibly(?) also staying there most of the time, so I don't think there should be problem.

(No, I do not work in the border guard)

Is that a problem?

When I tried to go to Finland this time, my flight was Australia > Singapore > UK > Finland.
That didn't work due to weather conditions at Heathrow in London. So I ended up going Australia > Singapore > UK > Sweden > Finland.

My passport was stamped in Sweden and I simply walked out of the airport in Helsinki.

Also there is no such thing as 'a little bit illegal'. It's either illegal or legal.

I am not an Aussie, I have a Moroccan passport and you definitely know How it feels like to be a Moroccan man trying to cross the European Borders.
The scrutinizing, the double check......etc

I have a Moroccan passport
Than indeed you can expect some critical questions.
But when you can show a return ticket it shouldn't be a problem

Its worth 90 days within the Schengen, but that 90 days starts when you enter Schengen - if you go to the UK in between, you need to check if you got a multiple entry one...

Yes. You will not go through any border checkpoint. Quite possibly you will not even show your passport to anybody, even airline staff (though you should of course have it with you.

If you fly to UK directly... if you land first in Spain, (thats Schengen) you use the Schengen visa, so its used, that entry of yours, so you can "leave Schengen" and go to UK, but you cannot go into Spain or Finland as you already entered the Schengen that one time...

Funny. I had to show my passport everywhere all the way through the schengen area... from The Netherlands to Finland I had to show. From Heathrow to Finland I had to show. From Sweden to Finland I had to show. From Singapore to Finland I had to show. In fact, I don't think I've ever gone outside of any borders without having to show someone my passport for some reason. I thought that was the norm. I understand though that one should be allowed to travel without the S.E. though without having to do so, but I sure had to show mine all the time.

There's a difference between airline checking your identity and official passport control
The Netherlands to Finland
No passport control
From Heathrow to Finland
Passport control
From Sweden to Finland
No passport control
From Singapore to Finland
Passport control
