I would like to quote some sentences from migri.fi

1. As an EU citizen, you will not need special grounds for your residence in Finland.

So,I dont need any reasons or occupations to get the residence permit?


2. Those registering as employees or self-employed persons are not required to give an explanation of their livelihood.

I dont understand this sentence,if I am working in finland I must have euro to live.
Or I am able to register as a volunteer?

If you are employed then they take this as being how you will support yourself, if you wish to work as a volunteer or not work for any other reason then you need to provide information on how you will support yourself,

It means: if you are an employee, as in "have a work contract" you don't need to (further) explain how you make your living, as thats taken for granted.
If you are not an employee, but say that you are a fakir, then you need to explain that you intend to suck birch sap and eat flowers.

Likewise, for non-EU's there are "reasons" as in categories... "work, study, family..." as an EU you don't need to "fit" in a category. A non-EU lands on the magic carpet and the officer wants to know if he is a study fakir or a family fakir, an EU just needs to lift his breechloth and illuminate the officer with the blinding EU light shining out...
