Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
You can see the procedures from the numerous posts about it in this site.
Basically you need to prove your relationship is real and has been going on for 2 years. Bills in joint names, rental agreements in both names etc.

Tell your Finnish guy to read the Migri website at http://www.migri.fi/ If he still has no idea what to do, better dump him.

Well would that not kill her chances which probably are pretty bad to begin with.interleukin wrote:Tell your Finnish guy to read the Migri website at http://www.migri.fi/ If he still has no idea what to do, better dump him.
Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
In case you haven't actually lived together for the past two years, I see two roughly circular answer to your question
One is "zero", the other a "wedding ring"
(the second options requires the right Kenyan documents, and applying for the permit might still be better done when you've returned back home (for a while) first)

If her partner has no idea what to do, they probably won't make it through the Migri scanning.Oho wrote:Well would that not kill her chances which probably are pretty bad to begin with.interleukin wrote:Tell your Finnish guy to read the Migri website at http://www.migri.fi/ If he still has no idea what to do, better dump him.
And if he is a dumb ass, she probably has no future here anyway.

Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
Read www.migri.fi on "non-EU" and "family members". There is a possibility to apply for a permit on this ground - if you can PROVE a relationship of 2 years, with papers. If he decides to make a honest woman out of you - as in marriage - even better. Though for marriage now you need papers from Kenya proving you are not married before etc. to get the license. You need to both go and read the rules and not just do things without planning. Bureaucrats love papers, you will know that soon enough.

we have not lived togather for all the 2 years..he's come to kenya thrice each for 1 month on which we stay togather.Rip wrote:In case you haven't actually lived together for the past two years, I see two roughly circular answer to your question

Someone told me to first get a tourist visa since i have a visiting one that expires end of this month...then apply for a RP within the 3 months . can that work
Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
If you were a "family member of a Finnish citizen" you should still apply within the time your visa is valid, and without getting married first you are not recognized as a family member.olangam wrote:we have not lived togather for all the 2 years..he's come to kenya thrice each for 1 month on which we stay togather.

This information is available online both in Finnish and English ( such as http://www.migri.fi ). I can't understand why one of you at least did not think about checking it in advance.

Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
Well, unfortunately pregnancy isn't a "proof" until after the fact, which is 9 months from now, and still it isn't a sole reason so that kind of leaves one option on the table on convincing the officials of the seriousness of the relationship.

Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
I doubt it means diddly till fathers identity has been established with DNA tests, after that the kid would be Finnish national and that with pretty good likelihood would get the mother permanent residence permit, which, pardon my cynicism again, sounds like a plan.Pursuivant wrote:Well, unfortunately pregnancy isn't a "proof" until after the fact, which is 9 months from now, and still it isn't a sole reason so that kind of leaves one option on the table on convincing the officials of the seriousness of the relationship.
Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GETTING RP
You came here 2 weeks ago and are three weeks pregnant? (OK, seriously, I trust you have an explanation to that)olangam wrote: Well,we dint know that we needed to stay togather now until we realise i'm 3 weeks pregnant!!!
If you had the preliminary paperwork, you could get married (kind a late to be too cautious about that any more...) and then apply for RP.
What can you do? The nearest place you can get the paperwork is apparently the Kenyan embassy in Stockholm:
http://kenyaembassystockholm.com/index. ... &Itemid=47
I'd suggest you'd contact them them ASAP (like today, if possible) how fast they can get you certificate of non-impediment from them.
Also, if you need to pick it up from them in person (you can, if necessary, visit them without a problem while your visa is valid (to get things started), but after it expires you risk serious troubles if somebody at the border or Sweden wants to see your ID, so if the processing takes time, it would be be very good if your boyfriend can pick it up for you (I doubt mailing will work because of the necessary legalization))
Also contact the magistrate office here and ask if that certificate of non-impediment is what they need for marriage. Ask both from the embassy and the magistrate office what are necessary layer stamps on the document to get it accepted in Finland (and hope you get the same answer from both)
You can apparently apply for temporary residence permit before getting married ( http://www.migri.fi/moving_to_finland_t ... lationship )
, in practice you'd likely never get it before you'd be able to apply properly after getting married, but submitting the first application would keep you legal here in the mean time (as your visa was about to expire). You could perhaps try talk about that with local police.
- and in case you're not aware of it, you're not part of the local health care system before your permit is approved, so I hope your current health insurance is valid for while at least. It probably does not cover pregnancy anyway, so expect that you need cover those initially from your own (boyfriends) pocket.

You're sharp Rip.Rip wrote: You came here 2 weeks ago and are three weeks pregnant? (OK, seriously, I trust you have an explanation to that)

I wonder if boyfriend is sharp enough to see that he is being set up.
(marriage => residence permit => divorce => child care payments)
