Where is best to look for jobs in Finland?
Where is best to look for jobs in Finland?
I moved to Finland just over a week ago and I'm having difficulty trying to find a job as I cannot speak Finnish. Even the job search websites are unhelpful. Does anyone know where is the best place for me to start looking?
Re: Where is best to look for jobs in Finland?
Ah my apologies. I was unclear. I meant what job websites are good for me to start looking on. I am a qualified and experienced chef of 8 years and I have a qualification in accountancy. I can only speak English.

Thanks for those sites but for the most part they are only in finnish. I realise not speaking finnish will seriously hinder my chances of finding a job but I am willing to try ANY job!

Sorry, theres no jobs for thick planks at the moment. How bloody difficult is it to figure out what is the word for "search", what is the word for "kitchen", what is the word for "cook"???

I am assuming that you are looking in Helsinki?
All found on the Mol.fi website. http://www.mol.fi/paikat/ Just type in 'the' in the field marked 'sanahaku' for some Englsih speaking jobs.
And try and ignore some insultulting people on this website, they obviously have far to much time on their hands and nothing better to do which is a shame for them really.

Which is the better motivation, being spoon-fed or a right kick up the arse?

Sorry, my mistake. I thought this was a forum to help people who move to Finland. Your opinion of me is irrelevant, so If you don't want to help why don't you just troll somewhere else?
Re: Where is best to look for jobs in Finland?
People get plenty of help here, but not if they are doing nothing themselves.
You expect us to help you with the most elementary things that you can do yourself in 10 seconds?
And then complain about critical answers
Pursuivant did help, he showed you the way.

I just re-read my posts and you're right. I'm sorry. I have been a bit of thick twat about all this.
In my experience translation sites were often useless, now I know google translate works I will use that. Thank you for your help, and again, my apologies.

Just don't trust Google to translate your application into anything except gobbledygook - send the CV and application in English. That MOL site is bursting with chef positions, some in quite posh end places and also Lappland resorts who are quite used to "international" staff. Mind you a winter up north will make you a plank - frozen plank.

English => Finnish gives an understandable result (at least if you don't use Twitter talk)now I know google translate works I will use that
The other way around is less useful.
