LOOKING FOR WORK IN AND AROUND HELSINKI

Post by momo31 » Thu Aug 23, 2012 4:56 pm

Hi I’m a 31 year old male who has recently moved from the UK to Finland to live. I don’t have transport at the moment but this will be on my list of things to get.
Below is a little bit about me, my skills and experience.

Personal Profile

I am a young, energetic and sociable individual.
I’m very conscientious and able to work on my own initiative,
I have excellent customer service skills and well mannered.
Accustomed to long and demanding working hours as well as irregular shift patterns.

before i move to Finland i started a business in car body repair called Autoworks This was a business adventure of mine which I started in 2010, I offered car body repairs, alloy wheel refurbishment, servicing and valeting. I gave the business up June 2012 due to the running costs of the business. it was not possible to earn a satisfactory wage. i have 5 years experience in car body repair. i first got into car body repairs back in 2005 working for a large company as a panel beater.

I have also worked in bars, one of which was called Ma Nolan’s Irish Pub 2008/09 ( Second Season)
Manolan's is a large pub/restaurant located in the south of France (Nice). My duties involved bar tending and once a week would work on the floor serving food and drinks to tables, during the day it would be a steady flow of customers as the sun sets the pub would get very busy. Outside terrace has a sitting of 38, which would be full most nights. Food is stopped at 11pm and closing is at 2am. Cleaning of the bar and floor after closing.

I have also worked a lot in construction doing labouring work, hod carrying and bricklaying

I have good computer skills using Adobe flash/Photoshop/excel/word/PowerPoint. I studied computers at school and college back in the UK.

I look forward to hearing from someone that can offer a position any Q's please feel free to ask.

Well, you need to learn the magic words, but as far as car services go, theres quite a few jobs, more though for mechanics and locksmiths.

Hei Momo31!

Sorry I can't give you any help finding a job in HKI, but I would like to commend you on your post!

So many jobseekers turn up on this forum with something like, "Hello I want a job, any job". They don't say anything about themselves, their skills, their experience, or even their location. You, on the other hand, have covered all of those. You sound like the sort of person who will succeed and I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you for the positive reply, it gives me more confidents that good things will happen. I know moving can take time to fit in and get the ball rolling specially in a new country with out speaking the language.

One tip though, run any applications, or letters you send, through a spell/grammar check. Even though Finns might sometimes be a tad quiet and speak rally-driver English with an American accent, they have also been through a world-class education system. So the guy who reads the CVs may well spot minor English language mistakes and think twice..

Good Luck!
