If your husband is non-EU but is working in Finland then he will need to get a residence permit, naturally.

However, are you non-EU, too, and where is your daughter, in Finland?

How long is your husband's contract in Finland?

Does he not already have some sort of resident's permit as he is working there?

I think you might be best to contact the immigration office as I am not sure on what grounds you would apply for residence, can you do it on family ties if your husband is not Finnish?

Immigration application for Spouse.

Your spouse should have the following documents

Passport.

Marriage Certificate should be in English (preferably) or you should have an English translation of it. The marriage certificate should be attested from

The foreign office in country of marriage
The embassy of Finland

A copy of passport of the wife attested from Notary Public.

Step 1: Register your marriage.

He should do the following

1. Register your marriage in Finland. For that you have to go to Maistraatti

Documents needed are:

Attested Marriage certificate.
Attested copy of passport.
Ask Maistraatti to give you a certificate that your marriage has been registered. It costs 3.5 euros.

Step 2: Apply for immigration.

He should apply at the police station for the immigration.

It is important to apply as soon as you can. If one or two documents are missing still go and apply, sooner you apply sooner will your spouse get the visa.

He needs the following documents when you go to police station.

Marriage certificate
Copy of the registration of marriage.
Family ties application forms http://www.migri.fi/netcomm/content.asp ... guage=en#2
Attested copy of spouse’s passport
2 passport size pictures of spouse (picture should full-fill requirements given here: http://www.police.fi/poliisi/home.nsf/p ... 910026CA45).
Your own passport.
pay slip.
A statement from his employer to speedup the visa/immigration process.
Bank statement.

Magistrate office would register a foreign marriage of two foreigner, on which neither one is currently a legal resident of this country? -That would be a surprise to me if it can be done...

Ok, the original question is rather unclear. She says "working in Finland" but also manages to give an impression that even the husband's application is still only in application stage. I revert my comment if the husband actually has a permit.

my spouse is legally in finland and i dont think it would be possible to register a marriage in any country if one of the applicants was not legally in that country. and my daughter lives with me at home.

Hi, how long did your husband take to change marriage status from single to married? I married to a Finnish, our marriage legally registered in Singapore, in order to update my hubby's marital status in Finland, we submitted all the necessary documents to the embassy in Singapore, there is no news from embassy or Finland after two weeks. We don't know how long we have to wait for it. Any idea?

Stupid husband. Does he have your fingers? The applications must be made in person from this year, so you have to do it in the Finnish embassy. What he has to provide is paperwork that he earns enough money to support you two (tax record, work contract, bank statements). If he makes under 1980 euros per month after tax, the answer is no.

PS. Your husband should apply to get the child money from KELA.
