Have never heard of one. If they exist at all, they are most likely organised as after-school clubs in lukio or secondary school.

Finn Brit www.finnbrit.fi sometimes runs a book club for adults. If you could get enough teenagers together I'm sure they would be more than willing to organise a "teacher" and a venue. But there are always problems with logistics. It's almost impossible to get enough kids together on the same day, at the same time and place.

I have found at least 3 book clubs for teenagers in russian and about the same in swedish..and i have not been trying hard. Are English speakers not interested in promoting deeper knowledge of Dickens or Shakespeare ? I do not want to believe that...

Well, if I were running a book club for teenagers I doubt if I would start off with either Dickens or Shakespeare. As I said, these kind of activities are usually organised as after-school clubs.

The Finn Brit society which I linked to above organises a range of activities in English from drama (Finn Brit players), to talks and social events, visits etc. So check it out for events that might suit your son/daughter. You could also try your local library.

I'm not sure that Book Clubs are a big thing in Finland. My impression is that Finnish people like to read alone, privately - they don't see the need to discuss a book with a group of people. It's a cultural thing.

But I'm sure there are plenty of virtual book clubs for teenagers online. For kids, that might be a more practical and flexible way of joining a book club.

Everything goes virtual these days.... It is so hard to make my on read that I do not think that anything virtual would help. Physical presence does bring certain responsibility. Anyway let's see how it goes ....
