Benefits of resident permit-A status

Post by sunmoon2000 » Wed Sep 26, 2012 2:50 pm

Hello everyone,

I just registered in this forum. It seems very informative. I don't know..why I found it so late..!! I have a question about my resident permit status. I recently got A permit but previously I had B. They said I can also change to B if I want. I am going to get married soon. So, I want to know what are the benefits of getting A or I should go back to B. Which will be good for me and my spouse? She is not in Finland but I am going to bring her as early as possible. Besides , i am now living in a studio apartment. If I want to bring my spouse is it necessary to have a family apartment or studio will be fine?

it would be nice if someone give me some advise or suggestion.

-Ullah

One of my friend said, without family apartment they will not give resident permit to spouse. But, you know its tough to get a suitable place with reasonable prize in short notice in Helsinki. So, I just wanted to know..is it an issue ( having studio apartment) to get resident permit?

Thanks you all

The thing with "B" is its temporary, so everything is "temporary" in the computer, so say your credit rating and all things is just waiting you to leave. A means you're intending to stay, P means you're staying.

What? In what way could it possibly be a fire safety issue (unless you tend to cook your food on an open fire in the middle of the room... which would fall under the category of "you are doing it wrong" and not "you are living with your family in a studio apartment")???

And studio apartments are perfectly suitable for families, even with children. It's not unusual for families to start out that way. It might not be the best way to live, but if that's all you can affort then that's all you can afford.

A fire hazard? Sorry, I am laughing my arse off.

My ex husband and I started out in a Studio Apartment. I got all my permits just fine. Who even thinks of such a thing? There are SOOOOOOO many people in Finland living in unsuitable homes for the size of their families, because the average Joe can't afford nice big homes like in other countries. Such a thing is never taken into account. Maybe if Daddy were sleeping in a bed with his teenage girl.... that could raise eyebrows LOL.

For fire safety there is no relation between the number of people and the number of bedrooms.
There is however a relation between the number of people and the number and quality of the exits.
Sometimes it might be easier to write a relation between rooms and people into the regulations than defining the aspects of an exit.

And as far as I know In Canada people on committees who write regulations and standards can personal be sued and prosecuted if the regulation/standard proved to be unsafe.
This results often in extra demands without real value.

With small children I'd think having enough rooms that the the parent's don't see the kids all the time probably increases somewhat the risk for fire.

Ok, there was already an answer from someone with direct experience, even without it I would have thought that for a couple without kids, at least if it is not the smallest box in Kallio, they would not care.

Otherwise, A-permit leads to P-permit, B does not. Also the path to citizenship is faster.
