Now, to see somebody who's quoting (in your own language} "what the @#$% are you doing?" I'd say it's quite "eccentric" yes, probably in his intentions it wasn't meant to be rude, but in fact that is. I'm always not very well impressed from anybody who categorizes people. Like White, Blacks, Indian, Jews, Italians. I know as a nation we do not have such a good reputation, but I'm going ballistic {again :) ] when I hear ... uh! ah! Germans! - Italians! or whatsoever. Usually is called "prejudice". :)

Joke or not I'd have to ask too: Mitä vittuu sie oot tekemässä?
And for categorizing: do you move your hands pointlessly while talking? Could I touch you while we are talking to each other?

Some man's civil is another man's rude. In many cultures small talk is civil. Finnish version of civil waiting of bus: http://www.mtv3.fi/uutiset/kotimaa.shtm ... 11/1216267 I can guarantee that there isn't any "Good morning!"'s or "Nice weather"'s heard there.

:D nope! As a matter of fact I'm divorced since 1996... :) since then I decided to live alone. Well, not really, I have a couple of wonderful Huskies. Besides, you know, I'm a bit old... :D
There is a simple reason: since when a kid I've been fascinated by Northern Countries. I'm curious, and I think that experiencing a different Culture is quite interesting, isn't it? That's why I lived ten years in Africa, a couple in the US and France, and years in North (where I's born), Centre and South Italy. I usually travel a lot to Israel, lovely place, and I live in a beautiful Country, with nice food and weather (I'm actually in T-shirt watching the sea) and, guess what? I'd like to be in the North. It's cold, dark for six month a year, and probably could be boring all that rain and snow, but... but I remember a car trip in Africa that totally changed my "sense" for colours. I never used those kind of colours before, but just in a click, everything changed, and since then an immense variety of colours became "friendly". Different Cultures enrich people. Northern Europe: I remember how I was shocked watching colours that are used in Finland. Deep and/brilliant reds, wonderful blues and an infinite variety of light shades of wood colours.
Do You quote this as a "good reason" ? :?

Nope, I do not move pointlessly my hands, and nope You couldn't touch me while talking to each other, or at least You could try, but probably one of my dogs shall think of an attack to me and could try to bite... :D (that's a real joke, Huskies never bite humans...)

Not so long buses, but plenty of "free" seats. People don't like to sit beside a stranger, if it can be avoided.

I guess the huskies take care of the education better than the two pints, need to put that down as a teaching aide.

"Used" ? What do you mean? Finland is as drab shades of grey as can be imagined, people dress if not in black then in dark colors and the only brilliant red is in the traffic lights?

Agreed.

I was going to let that dog issue pass, but now that you brought it up... Huskies are fine dogs, not to my taste, but healthy and good for the purpose they were bred for.
Neighbour had a bunch when I lived with my parents. And you heard them, even though they were over 100 meters away. So certainly not city dogs.

Yep, you're right. I was referring to Sami traditional dresses, which maybe doesn't have very much concern with the everyday dress in Finland. But those colours look beautiful to me, and they are magnetic. I usually dress in military surplus stuff, not because I'm a war-junkie, but only because is very strong and very cheap stuff. But that's not me. It's only the surface. Maybe Finnish are all that gray as you say only on the surface, I don't know; but you're presenting your own country as a very boring place though :)
I am not interested in surfaces, I always try to go over, I try to understand. That doesn't mean I do understand, but it's worth trying.... :) :)

Concerning my dogs:
Both are pure Husky breed, and both come from a Rescue Center. They are surely not belonging to Southern Countries, but, You know, they where very popular. A couple of movies on the TV, and a lot of people went to "buy" those kind of dogs, and then... uh! Guess what? They are special, they need to run everyday (and not for the ten-minutes-pee-walk), they're independent and really stubborn. So, at the end, they park them somewhere, or they abandon them or they put them on a short chain on a balcony, like the former "owner" did to my young female husky.
Besides, my dogs never bark, from time to time (but's rather rare) they howl. As a matter of fact they seem mute. I herd Ice barking three times in his entire life; I'm lucky probably.
But they rarely are aggressive with people (Malamutes sometimes are) and, yes, I know, they are animals, you never should say "never"... :)
And I love my dogs... :)

Ahhh.. that explains it. But you said something about the colors of Africa - you see the similarity of say the Sahel and the northern Tundra. They're both "deserts" so the people liven up.
Maybe Finnish are all that gray as you say only on the surface, I don't know; but you're presenting your own country as a very boring place though :)
But boring is good. If you have a country all the time in the news, what do you have, war, famine, flood, earthquake? I have friends who moved from Tel Aviv. I was surprised they didn't complain as much as usually people do when they hit the winter, but they explained, no katjushas in Helsinki, no exploding buses, they preferred boring.
A couple of movies on the TV, and a lot of people went to "buy" those kind of dogs, and then... uh! Guess what?
Well, that happens in countries where you can buy dogs in a supermarket  Not saying it doesn't happen here too, but theres some remnant of social responsibility left so even breeders won't sell dogs to just anybody.

:D :D ...Yeah, well, I've been under fire a couple of times, and... let's say is not such a great moment... :D
and I'd say that I prefer boring too... :)
Believe me, nothing hurts me more than not having social responsibility. I'm damned hurt by almost everything we're doing to "our" world. And people here fool me around because I'm sort of a tree-hugger idiot, just because they probably think that food grows up in the supermarkets at night. And I'm tired of Countries in which this "sense of responsibility" it really worths nothing. Well, I've seen food frauds perpetrated in Sweden or in England. But in those Countries, if they're caught, they end up in jail. Seems not happening here and that's a real shame :(
The "Social Responsibility" means also that you try to avoid waste. And probably your life is not the search for luxury cars and "Social Status" bullsh...
There is a very interesting video posted on TED, that I think everyone should see... but... look how many people, around the world, watched this post...
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/tristr ... andal.html
220 something thousands, which is a real shame..... :(
Well, let's say that yes I prefer boring too... :)
And I love "desert" places. :D
Concerning the colours, I thinl that if you'll have a look to the works I'm doing, you'll realize what I mean... :D
