ITV Documentary - Early Education

Post by ITV1 UK » Wed Sep 12, 2012 8:12 pm

Hi,

My name is Katie and I work for ITV1 in the UK.

I am making a documentary looking at how parents can give their children the best start in life, specifically academically.

The programme will mainly focus on cases in the UK, however, I’m very interested in the Finnish education system as it is ranked one of the best in the world.

I am looking for a family based in Helsinki that is willing to take part in the programme, English speaking and have a child aged 5 and another of schooling age?

I’d like to have a quick chat with you on the phone if possible with a view to fly over with the reporter and cameraman before mid October. I would like to film an interview with you and your children for your opinion and feelings on the Finnish education.

I’d love to hear from as many families as possible. If you’re not right, then please feel free to pass my request on to anyone who may fit the bill.

I can be contacted on either: Katie.godfrey@itv.com or 0044 207 157 4369.

Many thanks.

Katie

Hi Guys,

I am still looking for an english speaking Finnish family, so please get in touch if you're interested and up for taking part. It should be a fun day of filming.

Many thanks,

Katie, ITV1

So the family has to be Finnish but able to speak English... That wasn't clear to me in your first post. I thought you were looking for an English family living in Finland.

This probably isn't the best place to find a Finnish family. But you could try contacting this organisation: http://www.mll.fi/en/

Hi,

Thank you for that - I appreciate it.

Yes, Ideally I'm looking for a Finnish family where the parents speak English, but I'm also happy to speak to English parents that have lived in Finland a while, and have a 5 year old and an older child studying in the Finnish system.

Any suggestions welcome! Anyone can email me the parent's numbers and I can call them - save their phone bill...

Help is gratefully received.

Thanks,

Katie

Yeah, thank god... We happen to have a five year old boy, and luckily he won't be nowhere near having school education for two more years. Though of course, he will have "pre-school" next year, but that's very much not like a school. Our friends' little girl in Ireland brought home her first school work at the ripe age of 4, probably given to her by evil nuns.

Nuns get evil only if you split your infinitives.

Something wicked this way comes."
