Finnish citizenship processing time 2011 onward

A speeding ticket is still a reason to have the application in the unclear cases because they need to decide whether a waiting period needs to be imposed or not and while it was committed in 2009 it's up to migri to say that enough time has passed and the application is good to go.

I see this argument is logical, but there was a ruling last year that speeding tickets are no longer considered for citizenship applications. It might still be at their disgression. Moreover at police station when they checked the case, the lady only asked if the fine was paid or not. After 2009, there has been no other speeding violations fined so i still think this argument is questionable. I guess i need to wait for over a year to get some kind of response from them before i can get any progress on this.

There are no unpaid taxes or fines due from my side, i also offered to provide the receipt of payment of this speeding ticket and they said that there is no need as they can check and validate from their system before sending it forward to migri(which they did during April 2012).

Today i got via netposti the decision on my citizenship.Now i am officially a finn

Does anyone know how long does it take to receive decision from migri after they ask for job situation and travel lists and they receive those information?

I applied for citizenship in Oulu in the end of October, 2011. I'm a U.S. citizen married to a Finn and have lived here for six years. We were both students until May, 2012, when we both went on social support and started looking for work. I called the police in July to see when my application had been sent to migri, and they told me June. So my application was at the police station for 7 or 8 months. I received a letter from Migri in August asking about my income and travels since applying. I went to renew my residence permit in the beginning of September, and the police told me that they could see that my application was being processed at migri. In the beginning of October I started a job that arpeetti (the city of Oulu) helped me find. I informed migri of this. Today, October 16th, I have received my positive citizenship decision. I'm so excited! Thank you Finland!!! So in all, it took two weeks shy of a year to receive the decision.

I I asked the lady today if there was something missing information due to which they have put to slower queue and they did not know. This is bull!

This does sound strange and not what the law says. Two options come to my mind: One is that the applicant first stated he was employed and then later when they asked further information failed to disclose what was his current source of income - or then there was something else in their opinion wrong about the application. It wasn't quite normal case (of course possible it was just very unlucky) if the police kept the application for a year before sending it to migri.
