Well, as a set presumption as you're living here, you can get a divorce here. There are certain qualifying factors depending what has been agreed upon between nations and so forth. As has been said in this thread, two years separation qualifies for immediate divorce without a six month waiting period.
At this point, however, I think you would be best served by someone specialized in international marital law, or at least on both Finnish and the country the husband is from, so that there will not be any suprises during the proceedings.
Acknowledgement of paternity is a bit of a hassle here too, though I've let myself to be told that it is less strict process than it used to be.

Not in Finland? I think its a Swedish thing. On the contrary - you have to make a "non-cohabitation declaration" to KELA if you say live in a shared flat as a student and happen to be different sexes. They count M+F = chigi-chigi and count people sharing as a "couple" and dock their handouts... A gay couple then again can share and get "separate" handouts and boink each other with abandon.Didn´t there use to be a kind of "cohabitation contract" you could make?

Assuming the marriage was registered in Finland too.Hpslm wrote:Well, as a set presumption as you're living here, you can get a divorce here.

It depends a bit what you mean as registered but there's no requirement at Avioliittolaki's chapter 3, section 119 about pre-registration. Chapter 2 just lays the ground rule that acknowledges all the marriages that were done lawfully are recognized in Finland. And, e.g., if one spouse lives in Finland, then they can get divorce here.rinso wrote:Assuming the marriage was registered in Finland too.Hpslm wrote:Well, as a set presumption as you're living here, you can get a divorce here.
