Giving birth in TYKS Hospital Turku

Post by xiel1015 » Wed Oct 17, 2012 1:58 am

Moi everyone, specially to the moms and mom-to-be.

I am 32 weeks pregnant now, and i have lots of question about what kind of service the tyks usually give during your stay in the maternity ward after giving birth.

How long do i have to stay in hospital? If normal delivery. (I have the idea of 3 days) but not so sure about it. :D
Do they provide clothes for the baby?

Towels, shampoo, soap...etc.
I just want to avoid bringing those things if they are already available in the facility.

Is it possible to reserve a private room? Aside from the room who u will share with 3 other moms.

Additional infos. Will be much appreciated.

Pls. Share your wonderful experience. would be happy to read it.

Kiitos for reading my post.

Take care everyone.

Zel.

While waiting for somebody to Turku to report, based on the assumption things can't be very much different in various locations in Finland.

About so, maybe bit shorter, especially if this is not your first baby. And this is pretty much their suggestion/recommendation. You're not legally insane so they can't keep you there against your will, but on the other hand will not likely kick you out fast either if you feel uncomfortable. Same applies to the baby if he/she is healthy.

Yes (and for you too, even if you did not like it that much), you need your own baby clothes when you check out.

This I better leave for those who live in Turku.

It is possible to request a family room, but they are not certain. Also prefference is given to first time mother/families. If you are forigne they will also require you to take a test for staff infection before you give birth /but if you do not ge this test you will be automatically put in a private room as you are a risk) wink wink.

Or maybe the OP is a decent person and does not think she's entitled to game the system of her host country.
