There is a way to survive in double language communities. Register as a swede with kela and the municipality - and you get all the official info in Swedish, which is just a step away from English ( or better say that English is just a step away from Swedish...). 5 hours spent with a good grammar book and you , with a help of vocabulary, will be able to understand 95 percent of what you receive in your mail. But that is not going to help much in everyday life - swedes tend to speak better English than Finns , and they easily switch to English if they see a foreigner who tries to speak Swedish. though I know couple of organizations here in Helsinki where Finnish is only spoken at the switchboard, inside even Finns who work there speak Swedish.

What do you want from me?????

Mostly it depends on what kind of person you are. If you are an £$€¤%&, people will treat you like an £$€¤%&. If you are a happy person that brings something interesting, they are interested and happy to meet you. Human relations are not rocket surgery.

It's so often Americans who ask this question worrying how they'll be treated. Makes you wonder......

I can tell you're a troll just from the use of the words "afro american" ...
