Medicine in Finland.
Medicine in Finland.
Hi there,
I'm new to this forum, would greatly appreciate any kind of information about this. I'm a GP, from Joradn, have a MBBS which means a certificate of "Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery" in English. I also have many certificates in the English language.
I might be moving next year. would love to know frankly whether I could find a job using my qualifications or I have to pass though the equation tests like the American and British system.... How do they deal with this exactly?!

Frankly, you won't be getting a job as a doctor without going back to the university here, performing as a GP maybe in 5-10 years.

Read the link that was given to you:Mirinda wrote:OMG I could do well with the exams but what about the language, only Finnish or Swedish ?!
"The examination can be taken in Finnish or Swedish."
Also check the "Approval depends greatly on whether your medical school is on the WHO list of medical schools."
I also doubt that a bachelor would be enough for approval of your qualification.

Finnish GP's when they are allowed "out of the hospital" are licentiate level (post masters). A bachelor would be in the hospital training still.Adrian42 wrote: I also doubt that a bachelor would be enough for approval of your qualification.

I greatly value your input, I read what's on the link carefully and came up with this, please correct me if something wrong.
Suppose I forget about practicing medicine and apply for a master degree in the field of academic science according to my qualifications (which are approved by WHO by the way) and as been mentioned some universities and institutes do depend on the English language, will that enable me to find a job after that?

Enable makes it sound certainty. And job certainly isn't certainty. Better possibilities, sure, but certainty not. Remember, you are looking English speaking job in Finnish speaking country.Mirinda wrote:I greatly value your input, I read what's on the link carefully and came up with this, please correct me if something wrong.

Aha, so just shifting from clinical science to the academic science will save time, effort and increase my chance to get a job?
If you don't mind me asking will such job cover the living expenses as much as a doctors' salary could do?
